Here at Kings River Life Magazine, we realize how important teachers are to the lives of our children and the future of our communities as they shape the leaders of tomorrow. Sadly, most of the best teachers work long hours with little recognition or thanks.
Human Anatomy, Physiology and Sports Medicine teacher Kirby Kauk has been teaching at Reedley High School for 23 years. He also served as an Athletic Trainer at RHS until 2005. Montana born, Kirby attended Fresno State where he received his Masters, graduating in 1989.
Just like at other high schools, fall is the busiest time of the year at Reedley High School, with football games, rallies, and band performances. And at all of these gathering, there is one thing you are sure to find -- school spirit! In fact, our Pirate pride is what gives so many students the motivation to be involved with school activities.
These poems were written by local teens who won our November poetry contest. There is quite a variety and this time we even have a winner from Parlier! The contest is open to anyone age 14-19 in the Kings River area.
This Valley is filled with incredible talent that often is overlooked. It can be easy to forget that there is great theatre, music, literature, and film right here where we live. At KRL, we desire to raise that awareness and one way is by doing profiles on local actors, directors, writers, and others.
This is the second in a series of columns that will feature news on what's happening on the local high school campuses, and events coming up during the following month. We will be skipping the column in December, but will resume in January 2011. Reedley High School is featured this month!
Where did you go to school? I bet you went to a school in Reedley, or at least somewhere in the Valley. You’ve gone to the same school as generations before you and the generations that are yet to come. You’ve probably even had the some of the same friends that you had as a child. Same here!
On Thursday, November 4 the play, Twelve Angry Jurors, is once again hitting the stage at Reedley High School. In this play, 12 jurors are asked to decide the guilt or innocence of a 19-year-old accused of murdering his father. On the surface, the young man appears guilty. However, through thoughtful sifting of the evidence by one steadfast juror, reasonable doubt begins to creep in.
These poems were written by local teens who won our October Teen Talk poetry contest. Many of this month’s poems tie into Halloween in some way at least with some sort of a dark edge. The contest is open to anyone age 14-19.
