While theatre starts slowly coming back to the stage, there still aren’t many shows to cover, so we are continuing to feature some local actors who have also been acting on our podcast, Mysteryrat’s Maze. This week we chatted with Fresno actor Donna Beavers, who has been the voice of three of our episodes. Mysteryrat’s Maze features mystery short stories and first chapters read by local actors.

The Amesbury Daily News is filled with information about the Spring Opening that attracts visitors from around the world to the Massachusetts town. The planned events including social gatherings, soirées, and carriage companies opening their doors to the public. It’s a great boast for local businesses and good PR for the carriage industry. But, the news of the brutal murder of a Canadian executive from Canada’s biggest carriage company has gossip moving at electric speed.

While theatre on stage is still on hold for a little bit longer, with the exception of some virtual shows, we are continuing to feature some local actors who have also been acting on our podcast, Mysteryrat’s Maze. This week we chatted with Fresno actor Ian Jones, who has been the voice of a couple of our episodes. Mysteryrat’s Maze features mystery short stories and first chapters read by local actors. I first saw Ian on stage in 2015 in Fresno Soap Co.’s production of The Picture of Dorian Gray. Ian played Dorian and he did an amazing job–I have been watching his career ever since. I was excited to get to work with Ian on the podcast!

The pandemic has brought us many new ways of enjoying entertainment that we may not have been familiar with before 2020—Zoom shows, StageIt online concerts, online conferences, Virtual Rogue Festival, Facebook Live book launches, and more. The creativity and resilience of performers, both local and around the world, has not only been amazing but inspiring. Fresno musician Tony Imperatrice not only has performed online concerts, but he has also started his own YouTube show called Other Stages. We chatted with him this week to learn more.

The 1920s are in full swing with people trying to get back to some kind of normal after “the war to end all wars.” Blanche Tucker, one of Alafair Tucker‘s gaggle of daughters, is restless, so she is easily taken in by a man claiming to be a film producer saying she has “IT.”
