Rattie Ratz Rescue, located in the greater Bay Area of Northern California, takes in hundreds of needy rats each year. The rescue's volunteers have learned that the task of matchmaker is an incredibly crucial role that affects the successful placement of a rescued rat into a loving home.
The mission of Feral Paws Rescue has always been to save senior and special needs cats, and our Rescue never goes back on our word. So, when we get a call from the Central California SPCA, we respond as quickly as possible. Three precious cats last month were no exception.
Through the years, Valley Animal Center has had the pleasure of changing the lives of dogs and cats that have come into their care. The services they offer their adoptables help many abandoned pets find their furever homes.
Valentina, at barely one-year-old, is still very puppy-ish. She is super active, loves toys, and is a very busy girl. Her foster mom says she jumps on the sofa and flies to nearby chairs or tables.
Valentina was purchased by a nice family from a pet shop, but they had no Scottie experience. In addition, the parents were very busy between working full time, their children’s school, and after school activities. Consequently, Valentina spent a lot of time alone in her crate.
It’s finally fall, folks, and that’s always a time for reflection. So pull up a chair and warm your chilly fingers with a hot pumpkin spice beverage, butter a slice of pumpkin spice bread, and light up a pumpkin spice candle for that whole freaking fall effect. Breathe it in. Suck up the aroma. Remember, you only get this one time of the year.
Although I kept saying I wasn’t going to take in any cats/kittens during our home improvements, I apparently have a hard time saying “No.” I got a call from one of my feeders about an injured kitten at a local strip mall. I went to check it out and as I pulled up, I immediately saw the kitten. It was just sitting there with another cat that I assumed to be the mother cat. As I approached, it continued to sit there until I got very close.
The very first Bully Walk event took place in 2010. After an overwhelming show of support, it quickly became a popular community event. The Bully Walk is an annual fundraiser that takes place at Woodward Park, Fresno CA - benefiting the Fresno Bully Rescue. FBR is a no-kill, breed-specific animal shelter and rescue, dedicated to rescuing bully breed dogs.
The Art O’Brien Feral Cat Sanctuary is located at Valley Animal Center in Fresno. While it has seen many improvements throughout the years, this year, the nonprofit no-kill shelter for dogs and cats hopes to dramatically improve the lives of the more than 70 feral cats who call it home through the Feral Cat Sanctuary Beautification and Expansion Project, a project representatives of the organization estimate will cost $60,000 to complete.
Many, I am sure, don’t understand my drive to walk into a high-kill shelter daily and work endless hours to save just one life of a cat that will die in three to five days! I never ask for a pat on the back for what I am doing. Just that you respect me for fighting for the life of cats that will not make it out of a high kill shelter! Unless you have personally worked with a rescue, you can never truly understand the horror we see every day.
Found on the streets and heavily infected with fleas, Crosby was taken to the local shelter. He was not doing well in the noisy, busy shelter. Thinking he was a Cairn or part Cairn, the shelter workers called Col Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue.
