Found on the streets and heavily infected with fleas, Crosby was taken to the local shelter. He was not doing well in the noisy, busy shelter. Thinking he was a Cairn or part Cairn, the shelter workers called Col Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue.

Crosby

Once in a foster home, Crosby showed his happy personality. He follows Ron, his foster dad, around and loves to sit beside him on the couch. In fact, he will run to the couch, jump up, and spread out so he is in control of the seating. He also does a happy dance for treats or meals.

Ron thinks that Crosby once had a home. He walks well on a leash and can even untangle himself if necessary. He is also house-trained, and he may have lived with a cat as he buries his poop.

Crosby is not a lap boy, but he enjoys sitting beside Ron and just being with him. He also enjoys belly rubs and lots of petting. He tolerates baths and loves being blow dried.

In Ron’s house, Crosby lives with two other dogs. Ron has his own Cairn that is about seven years old and another young Cairn mix at about one year old. Crosby gets along with both, but he is not as active or ready to play as Anna Mae, the younger dog.

Crosby is not terribly interested in toys, but he does love his ball. He will guard it and any other toys he has selected. When he is out in the yard, he gives the neighbor’s dog notice that he is in charge. The other dog, a 90-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback, wants no part of Crosby.

Crosby has been neutered and had some dental work done. Several teeth were pulled. He also has a luxating patella but neither that nor the loss of teeth affects him. Crosby is judged to be about six years old and weighs about 15 pounds.

This happy, loving guy will be a great companion in the right home. He is looking for a home with adults only. When someone does something he doesn’t like, he will get grumpy and express his displeasure with a low growl, and this might be scary for children. In addition, he would like a forever home with someone who is home most of the day so he can be with his person. Importantly, he needs a person or a couple who will have patience to understand and respect his boundaries.
