I think sometimes when you anticipate something, and hope for something, for a very long time, the reality can never live up to your expectations. Fans of Anne Rice have hoped for a new Lestat book for a VERY long time, and finally in October of 2014 we were rewarded for our wait with the release of Prince Lestat.

I have been a fan of vampires for as long as I can remember, so when I heard there was going to be a new Dracula movie I couldn’t wait. I went to see Dracula Untold not really having a clue what it was going to be like, but had heard rumors that this Dracula was some sort of hero–interesting concept.

In the midst of fog and dust, leftover from the detonation of Sunnydale High School, Buffy Summers’ heart throb, Angel, made a place for himself in Los Angeles, protecting the unsuspecting citizens from all sorts of demons. Series creator, Joss Whedon, stated that after the episode Surprise (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s second season) hit the airwaves, he knew actor, David Boreanaz, could carry his own show. Thus leading to the ensouled vampire landing his own spin-off, which spanned for five seasons, encompassing not only new ideas, and some substantially creepier episodes than the pioneer series, but brought both new faces together with familiar ones.

This anthology has three stories from Faith Hunter’s Jane Yellowrock series, and it is available only as an e-book. I have to admit that this was my introduction to Jane Yellowrock, but even though two of the stories take place during the series I was still able to enjoy them and didn’t feel that lost. The other story is a prequel of sorts and introduces us to a young Jane which was a perfect introduction for me to the character. Jane is a skinwalker and vampire hunter.

To be human: breathing, eating, sleeping, running, laughing, crying, wanting, missing, loving, losing, talking, yelling, whispering, staying up late, long car rides, adventures, funny faces, music, movies, comfort, and life. All these things we associate with being alive and being ourselves. What if all this was taken away from you by dying and turning into a ghost, being bitten by a vampire or by a werewolf?
