It’s all in the timing. That’s a well-worn phrase that could describe a variety of situations, including the way in which Valley Animal Center’s upcoming fundraiser/adoption event came to be. According to Alisia Sanchez, Marketing Manager for Fresno’s nonprofit no-kill shelter, it was a matter of the right people being in the right place at the right time.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, one of the most mourned losses was in-person gatherings. In particular, the mystery writing community watched with regret as Left Coast Crime had to open and close the same day due to COVID restrictions. Then other much anticipated conferences had to cancel. It was bleak.

Here it is 2014 and after 100 years of existence, both the City of Orange Cove and the Orange Cove Women’s Club will be celebrating its centennial. Three service organizations met collectively to plan a special event entitled “BACK IN TIME: A 100 YEARS OF MEMORIES," which will take place on May 31. The Orange Cove Women’s Club, the Orange Cove Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Orange Cove American Legion have been working diligently to plan a celebration for the people of Orange Cove. With the help of several local packing houses acting as sponsors, these three entities were able to plan this back in time event.

The morning air was cool and welcomed by the 1,184 athletes gathering for the 14th Annual Blossom Trail Run. The day started with the first wave of runners dashing through the streets of downtown Sanger where they passed a multitude of vendors erecting canopies and starting fires in their grills, preparing for the crowds that were already arriving.
