Another fun holiday event happening this year is Frost Fest in Porterville. We spoke recently with the organizer LC Kalyor, also known as Kringle Undercover, about the event.

KRL: What is Frost Fest and who came up with the idea for this event?

LC: Frost Fest is a multi-night Holiday Festival celebrating friends, family, music, food, and gifting!

The Festival is to be held at the Porterville Fairgrounds, hometown of our Decorating Outfit, Christmas Decor. We’ve been decorating all over the state for the past 25 years and decided it was time to bring some of the magic of our bigger projects to our tiny hometown. We first started exploring the concept in 2015, have traveled to 4 states to see other operations, and built a few small shows for clients.

Finally, in 2021, the moment was ripe, and we took the plunge from custom decorators to Event Organizers with the creation of Frost Fest. Built for the community of Porterville, it highlights local eats, local entrepreneurs, and local musicians/artists and gives them a venue to shine at what they do.

KRL: Who is putting it on?

LC: Frost Fest by Farmers Insurance Agent Ismael Maduena, E.M. Tharp Inc. and Christmas Decor of California are the lead sponsors in bringing this event to life. Their consistent support of our local community is again evident in their contributions to Frost Fest!

KRL: Where will it be?

LC: 2700 W. Teapot Dome Ave Porterville, Ca 93257 – The Porterville Fairgrounds! 5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.

KRL: What things will there be to do?

LC: Have fun at the Carnival, enjoy nightly musical performances on the Snow Way Stage, local food trucks serving dinner, Santa Pics, Artificial Snow Zone, Character actors by the Barn Theater, Selfie Stations, Cornhole, and more!

KRL: What food will be there?

LC: Asian Food truck – 1st week Asia’s Kitchen, 2nd week Yoshi’s
Mexican Food Truck – Espinoza Tacos
Barbeque station – Golden Smokeshow
Bacon Wrapped hotdogs + nachos – Rae’s Dogs
Kettle Korn – Smell that goodness in the air! – Kettle Kings
Cotton Candy – With Grinch face on them.- Stardust Fluff
Fair Food booth – Fried goods – In Carnival.

Various Bakeries and coffee shops will be represented indoors at the Christmas Marketplace.

KRL: Is this the first one?

LC: This is the second annual event for Frost Fest. We had record rain and record cold last year, so this year is quite the crucible in moving forward.

KRL: What makes this holiday event unique?

LC: It’s got a little bit of everything and is entirely overbuilt for the tiny community of Porterville. The Artificial snow zone is a hit with the kids, parents enjoy the “last minute” shopping, and the youth like to see their peers on the performance stage… Simply put, everyone comes home for the holidays and now there is an epic light park for them to congregate in.

KRL: What are the dates, how much are the tickets, and where can they be purchased?

LC: Dec 15 -18 & 21-23 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
$15 for Age 13+
$10 for age 12 and under
4 and Under are Free
Skip the line and buy online at frostfest.eventbrite.com

Tickets are always available at the door until we reach a nightly capacity of 2500 patrons.

KRL: Anything you would like to add?

LC: Frost Fest is 4 acres of lighting displays, music, food, and fun for the whole community. Children love running through the lights and seeing Santa. Teens enjoy the carnival and games. Young Adults can see their friends in a fun environment when they come home for the holidays. Parents love taking photos with the family at the Selfie Stations, and Grandparents have a special place to create memories with their kin.

Make Porterville part of your “To Grandmother’s House we Go” this winter and experience the magic of Christmas in Central California at Frost Fest!
