Flying Off the Candle By Sarah E. Burr: Review/Giveaway

by Sarah Erwin

Flying Off the Candle is book two in Sarah E. Burr’s Glenmyre Whim Mysteries featuring candlemaker Hazel Wickbury and her aunt Poppy. I am new to the series and gobbled this one up in audiobook form. This reads well as a standalone, and I have also downloaded books one and two because I’m excited to start from the beginning and learn more of the backstory for these wonderful characters.

My month had an upsetting beginning because of a post on social media about an abandoned mother cat and five newborn kittens. The post led me to believe that the family had been dumped near a school located not far from my home. The temperature that day was around 110° so of course I was deeply concerned for the welfare of the cats.

Agatha Christie, She Watched By Teresa Peschel: Review/Giveaway/Interview

by Lorie Lewis Ham

We don’t review a lot of non-fiction here at KRL, but when author Teresa Peschel reached out to me about her new book Agatha Christie, She Watched, it not only sounded like a lot of fun, but also something that KRL’s readers would be interested in, so here we are! I had the pleasure of also interviewing Teresa about the book and I don’t want to give too much away from the interview, so this will be a bit of a different review.

Central Valley Spices

by Mallory Moad

Spices. They’ve been around for thousands of years, serving numerous purposes: commodities, currency, medicine, and status. History shows the spice trade once having been so powerful it influenced the rise and fall of early nations. And, of course, spices have always been a critical ingredient in food, something that hasn’t changed over time.

Fondant Fumble By Jenn McKinlay: Review/Giveaway

by Cynthia Chow

NFL professional football players and cupcakes wouldn’t seem to go hand in hand, so no one is more surprised than Fairy Tale Cupcakes owner Melanie DeLaura by her new franchise candidates. Star quarterback Keogh Graham and his Arizona Scorpions teammate Tyler Matthews are interested in a George Foreman-like business tie-in, one that will keep them profitable after their eventual retirement.
