Mysteries and Spring Flowers
Nothing says springtime like flowers. In honor of the “budding” season, KRL chatted with three authors whose cozy mysteries offer up a bouquet of fun flower features.

Here are 3 more Rogue show reviews, with many more to come over the next few days! You will be able to find all of our reviews, and our performer preview articles, and our article about Rogue 2024 in our Rogue Festival section here at KRL.
While Reedley High School has been well known for its theatre productions for quite some time, I recently became aware that theatre was happening at some Kings Canyon Unified School District (KCUSD) K-8 schools in Reedley, so I set out to learn more. Little did I realize that this actually began last year and somehow slipped under KRL’s radar, with the first show, a production of High School Musical Jr., performed by TL Reed students at Silas Bartsch.
I have been an Agatha Christie fan since I was a teenager, but until recently had never read one of her most famous books, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. When I was asked to review a new release of the book I thought it would be a good push to finally read it. I must say though, it feels a bit odd to be reviewing something by the Queen of Crime, and a book that has been voted by the British Crime Writers’ Association as the Best Crime Novel of all Time.
The wonderful arts festival known as the Rogue Festival, which takes place in the Tower District of Fresno, is nearly upon us again! This year it will be running from March 1-9. While the general idea of the Festival remains the same each year, there are always subtle differences, so we took a moment to chat with the always witty Jaguar Bennett to find out what this year’s Rogue has in store for us! Hopefully, we will get him to tell us about his show this year as well!
Dream Town is book 5 in Lee Goldberg’s Eve Ronin series. I am a big fan of Lee’s writing and this is definitely my favorite series of his (to be fair I haven’t tried Malibu Burning and Calico yet—they are on my tbr).
Terrance saw way more shows than I did in 2023 so he takes the lead on this one. I will share a few of my thoughts at the end, and there were many more shows in this Valley that we weren't able to make it to. When it comes to theatre, this Valley is blessed!
I have been a big fan of Jeri Westerson’s writing ever since I picked up my first Crispin Guest book many years ago, and she has never disappointed me. She always tells a great story with complex and interesting characters and goes all out with her research for her historical mysteries.
This week we continue our series of interviews with the current board members of Reedley’s very own theatre company, River City Theatre Co.(RCTC)--many of whom are also local actors themselves who have been on the RCTC stage many times over the years. This time we are chatting with Co-Treasurer Jacob Alvarado.
On Friday, February 2 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT, Alyssa Maxwell’s first Gilded Newport Mystery, Murder at the Breakers, will be premiering on the Hallmark Movies & Mystery Channel. The movie stars Ali Skovbye (Firefly Lane) as series sleuth Emma Cross and Danny Griffin (Get Even) as Police Detective Jesse Whyte. We had the chance recently to interview Alyssa about the movie. We are also reposting here our review of the latest book in the series, Murder at the Elms.
