I first met brother and sister, Nicholas and Kara McIntyre, in Reedley, California, where we attended Community Christian Fellowship Church together. As often happens, life intervened and my family and I began attending church near our home in Kingsburg. However, I “bumped” into both of them once again on Facebook as they began doing PR for the band that they had put together, The Autumn Lo.

Joyce Funda a junior at RHS and the smartest person I know. She said in our interview that if she could change her past she would have joined more clubs and sports earlier in high school. I laughed because I think she is involved with enough already! But that is Joyce for you, she never gives up, she is constantly involved and nothing is too big or too hard for her. She is an academic inspiration and I can’t wait to see what she does later in life.

If you ask the Rev. Dr. Sharon Stanley to describe Fresno Interdenominational Refugee Ministries (FIRM), prepare to hear stories. For Stanley, it is the story that makes the ministry, the story of short term assignment that became a life time labor of love, stories of the aspirations of new Americans, stories of hopes and dreams, and stories of the struggle to adjust to a new culture, language, and land.

Not only is the Fresno area graced with very talented performers, but also talented people behind the scenes that make it all happen, the people without whom those performers would have no show. David Pierce, with Good Company Players in Fresno, is one of those people.

This Valley is filled with incredible talent that often is overlooked. It can be easy to forget that there is great theatre, music, literature, and film right here where we live. At KRL, we desire to raise that awareness and one way is by doing profiles on local actors, directors, writers, and others.

Where did you go to school? I bet you went to a school in Reedley, or at least somewhere in the Valley. You’ve gone to the same school as generations before you and the generations that are yet to come. You’ve probably even had the some of the same friends that you had as a child. Same here!
