The Reedley College Football team traveled to Stockton for their first road game Saturday with a lot of questions that needed to be answered. Some of them were answered, but many remain a mystery after the Tigers were manhandled by San Joaquin Delta College 52-6.
The Reedley College Tigers opened the 2013 football season by losing to College of the Sequoias 41-26 Saturday night at Reedley High School Stadium.
The Reedley College Tigers open the 2013 football season with a home game against College of the Sequoias on September 7th, at 7 p.m.. The Tigers return several experienced players from last year’s squad and there are also some key new additions. Randy Whited enters his fifth season as Tiger head coach, and this could very well be the best team he’s had. I had the chance to ask him a few questions about the 2013 season.
2012 was an interesting year in the world of sports. From a local standpoint and a national standpoint, it was unpredictable and exciting, which, of course, is why we love sports! Here are my top stories from the year, in no particular order, beginning with the local scene.
Mark Gritton is a man who has been to a lot of places, so it’s interesting to find a man of his caliber at a far away place like Coalinga. Mark is the Athletic Director and former head football coach at West Hills College. He’s someone I’ve known and admired from a distance for a long time. (As the saying goes, Coalinga isn’t at the edge of the world, but you can see it from there!). Reedley College and West Hills College are once again in the same football conference, so we’ll be seeing Mark on a regular basis again. I recently had the opportunity to ask him a few questions about his life and his passion--Junior College athletics.

On paper, Saturday night's football game between The Reedley College Tigers and the Fresno City College Rams looked like a mismatch, but as the old saying goes, the game is played on the field, and the Tigers nearly pulled off a huge upset.
