The Reedley College Athletic Hall of Fame conducted it's annual induction ceremony and banquet this past Saturday, and the evening was dedicated to perhaps the greatest team the Tigers have ever fielded--the 2002 State and National champion football team.
For sports fans, 2011 was an amazing, ridiculous and frustrating year. Choosing the top ten sports stories of the year was something like choosing the ten best tasting Christmas cookies my wife (and editor) baked over the holidays - there were a lot to choose from! But here, in no particular order, are my top ten local and national sports stories of 2011.

Certainly the c=score is an important part of the story, and most people would say it’s the only thing that matters, but that’s not the case with this game.
There’s not a lot to be said about the Reedley College football game this past Saturday night. Well, there's plenty that could be said, but suffice it to say, it was a bad night for the Tiger defense, as they gave up 76 points in losing to West Hills, 76-44, dropping their season record to 1-3.
Football season is in full swing, so I was trying to think of someone to interview who would have a unique perspective on what is unquestionably America’s favorite sport. Then it occurred to me - why not interview the one without whom we could not even have a game? No, not the referee. We could play the game without him, although trusting the players to call their own penalties is somewhat akin to asking a four year old to guard the cookie jar.
What a difference a week makes! A week ago, the Reedley College Tigers were reeling after being crushed by San Mateo 48-14 for their second straight defeat to open the season. But the Tigers got a lot of things straightened out in the ensuing week, and clobbered the Cabrillo College Seahawks 58-7 Saturday night at Reedley High school Stadium.
