Nancy Drew adventures have been mainstream for over eighty years for good reason: she is our hero. It matters little that over the years these novels have had different authors writing under the pen name Carolyn Keene; what does matter is each author has carried on the original intent to give readers an intelligent, resourceful young woman who not only loves to unravel mysteries, but is very good at it, much in the tradition of the Hardy Boys, her contemporaries in stories of investigation.
Finding myself discouraged and fed-up with the new dramatic shows that are unrealistic and the reality shows that are overly dramatic, I’m casting my net farther afield and checking out the trend in shows based on comics.
All in all, Star-Crossed is a valiant effort on The CW’s part to give its viewers something good to watch while Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and The Originals draw to a close for the season; however, it remains to be seen whether this series will make it past Season 1. If love stories between human women and non-human males is your thing, then definitely check it out!

Arrow is one super hero show that so easily could be done wrong. It had to balance the realistic with the hero aspects that come with any comic book hero. Too much in either direction could kill a show. Not that it matters, because The CW has done it again.

Gossip Girl follows the lives of teenage Upper East Siders Serena Van Der Woodsen (Blake Lively), Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford), Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick), and Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgely). An online blog, Gossip Girl, recalls the events in their lives and the hottest gossip.
There are no sparkles on Thursday nights on The CW. That is a good thing, a very good thing. Well into season two, at time of publication, The Vampire Diaries has given the viewer a new guilty pleasure.
