Mysteries and Country Music

by Kay Finch

I enjoyed watching the 55th Academy of Country Music Awards earlier this month. I love these shows – my husband does not. He complains that the new singers aren’t really “country.” I enjoy the new singers, and prefer them over the likes of – well, I don’t want to name names. It’s all good – hubby has his likes, and I have mine. To me, watching the performances on the award shows is like going to a free concert with lots of great singers. Mysteries and country music help me cope with life’s stresses (and we sure have plenty of those this year). The good news is that I’ve had more time lately to enjoy reading mysteries and adding favorite songs to my play list.

It would be safe to say that country music runs in Gregor Ross’s blood—the Caruthers native’s musical heritage goes back several generations. I’d like to introduce KRL readers to Local Live. In this new section, we will be highlighting some local theater, music, and literary events worth considering adding to your own event calendar. A new event will be highlighted each Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., in plenty of time for you to include these events in your weekend plans should you so decide. Some will be events we have had the opportunity to experience ourselves; others will be ones we just wish we could attend.
