Country on the Kings River Fundraiser at the Wakehouse in Reedley

The Wakehouse in Reedley is the place to be these days with a lot of great concerts and food. A special event, Country on the Kings River, is coming to the Wakehouse on Friday, July 12. This event will feature up and coming country singer Josh Phillips, and opening the event will be bay area native singer/songwriter Toree McGee. This event is hosted by Six Strings for Freedom and will be a fundraiser for a double amputee Army veteran. We sat down to chat with Clay Groefsema, one of the founders of Six Strings, about the event.

KRL: I understand that Six Strings For Freedom is hosting the event, what is Six Strings For Freedom?

Clay: A non-profit. We coordinate/produce concerts with all proceeds going to [the] military.

KRL: Can you tell us more about this event and the performer Josh Phillips?

Clay: Josh is a fast rising singer/songwriter from North Carolina. Lives in Nashville now. Currently opening concerts for Justin Moore. Very unique sound. Extremely talented. Six Strings takes pride in finding unique, one of a kind artists.

KRL: Will there be other performers?

Clay: Bay area native Toree McGee will be opening the show. She has a sassy, unique country sound.

KRL: What is it a fundraiser for?

Clay: All net proceeds will go to a double amputee Army Veteran who is an avid outdoorsman. Goal is to be able to provide him an Action track chair so he can go back to enjoying fishing and hunting

KRL: How much are tickets and how are they purchased.

Clay: $10 online from Facebook the page. $15 at the door.

KRL: Date and time of the event?

Clay: Friday, July 12. Toree will start it off at 7:30 p.m.

KRL: Why did you choose Wakehouse for this event?

Clay: A country concert on the river… does it get any better?

KRL: Anything else you would like to add?

Clay: Guarantee you will be a fan of both Josh and Toree once you see them in this small, intimate setting!
