Queer Mystery Coming Attractions: November 2024

by Matt Lubbers-Moore

As we say goodbye to Halloween, and skip Thanksgiving decorations and go right for Christmas, it seems insane how fast the year has passed. I feel as if I only just finished the Summer Reading Program at my local library and now I’m figuring out programming for the Winter Reading Program! I also bought a house, moved, and renovated a room for my gay mystery library. I also started teaching at a local community college, and I am still working part-time as a reference librarian.

Happy Almost Halloween!

by Misty Simon

Happy Almost Halloween! It’s my favorite month and time of the year! For the last almost (gulp) 25 years I’ve been writing mysteries of some sort, from light fluffy ones set in small towns across the USA to Ren Faires run by misfit paranormals and a junkyard full of very badly behaved ghosts. I’ve even thrown in ghosts that are more like the famed Casper but look like the Golden Girls (they call themselves the Silver Bettys since that first title was taken).

The Elements of Good Ghost Stories

by Beth Castrodale

I’ve loved ghost stories since I was a kid. Back then, I’d sometimes write my own spooky tales, and they often featured unsuspecting children who’d wandered into haunted houses or castles. A Dark and Stormy Knit By Peggy Ehrhart: Review/Giveaway/Halloween Guest Post

by Sandra Murphy
& Peggy Ehrhart

A storm might add the perfect atmosphere for Halloween night, but it also cuts short the annual parade and bonfire. Pamela and her neighbors, Wilford and Bettina, have decided it’s best to stay inside and enjoy spiced cider and oatmeal raisin cookies. Their dog Woofus is usually a timid boy, but a sound alerts him that something is wrong. The scream that follows proves him right.

Death Scene A Witch City Mystery By Carol J. Perry: Review/Giveaway

by Cynthia Chow

Halloween is always one of the busiest times of the year for the town of Salem, Massachusetts, but now it’s especially chaotic. Paragon Productions has descended on Salem for a location shoot of their witch-themed movie called Night Magic, and everyone seems to be in a tizzy with the arrival of the actors and crew. Already working as WICH-TV’s program director and occasional field reporter, Lee Barrett Mondello has also been assigned by her station manager to direct a documentary about the film’s production.
