Looking For Alaska By John Green

by Jessica Runnels

All of John Green’s books are wonderful but this one is one of the best. It’s unique in that it is not really a love story and is more about a young boy’s journey to “seek a great perhaps” or a great life. “Looking For Alaska” is John’s first novel and has won numerous awards. Many list it as their favorite for its unique chapter styling and intelligent protagonist.

The Fault In Our Stars: By John Green

by Jessica Runnels

Cry, laugh, smile; that is what you will do when you read The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. John Green is my favorite author of all time. He writes the greatest young adult books I have ever read. He makes you feel like he understands you. Some adults treat teenagers or “young adults” like they are not equal and that everything they feel is silly. But John Green does not treat teenagers that way. His writing shows you that he sees all humans equally and that everyone’s feelings are valid. His writing and stories are so wonderful that adults will enjoy them as well.

Immanuel High School Seniors Say Goodbye

by Gabby Rivas

This year has been a whirlwind for the seniors at Immanuel High School. Words are unable to express how quick it has gone by and how remarkable these four years have been. At the beginning of the year we were focused on homecoming week and football games. Now all our attention has been focused on the junior/senior banquet, grad day, the academic awards, the drama production, college visits, AP tests, baccalaureate, sober grad, and graduation.

Forensics Class At Reedley High School

by Ashley Brandon

When you think of the word “forensics,” the first thing that pops into your head is CSI. In high schools, forensics is actually a speech and debate class. When some students don’t look at the course definition, they are often disappointed to find out that they won’t be solving crimes! Going into forensics, I knew that it had nothing to do with catching serial killers and saving the world. Having an overwhelming fear of public speaking, let alone one-on-one speaking, I knew it would be a struggle.

Reasons To be Vegan

by Ashley Brandon

I ordered a Big Mac the other day and I told them to hold the meat, the sauce, and the cheese. Why? Because I’m a vegan. I’m not going to be one of those vegans who preach it as if it’s a religion, but there are many benefits of veganism. First of all, veganism isn’t so much a diet as it is a philosophy and a lifestyle. There are environmental benefits, health benefits, and the benefit of saving animals from cruel treatment.

There's a special buzz around Immanuel campus, especially with regard to the basketball teams. With four talented transfers on the girls and seven on the boys, the games are producing a gargantuan amount of school pride.
