Reedley’s very own theatre company, River City Theatre Co.(RCTC), has seen a lot of changes over the last few years. We thought it would be fun to get to know some of their current board members—many of whom are also local actors themselves who have been on the RCTC stage many times over the years. This time we are chatting with Co-Treasurer Chrystal Laita.
This week I am reviewing two more mystery manga from Yen Press. There couldn’t be two more different manga mysteries to review at the same time—one is very dark and hard-boiled involving hit men, detectives, and cats; the other, while also dark, involves young adults moving to a new town, attending a new school, and discovering what might be a monster, or perhaps a ghost.
Fresno Lexus Broadway in Fresno is presenting Jesus Christ Superstar at the Saroyan on January 15 and 16. Recently, KRL had the opportunity to interview cast member Alex Stone who plays Pilate in this production.
Earlier this year, I watched season one of the anime Oshi No Ko, so I was excited to start reading the manga, hoping to go beyond that first season. However, Volumes 1 and 2 haven’t taken me there yet. But it was still interesting to revisit the story and get some bits that weren’t in the anime. The manga is published by YenPress. This is definitely one of my favorite anime/manga series!
Whenever I pick up one of Cleo Coyle’s Coffeehouse Mysteries, I feel like I’m hanging out in my favorite coffee shop with old friends! I can practically smell the coffee brewing, and my mouth waters thinking about their delicious goodies. I love hanging out with manager Clare Cosi and the Village Blend staff. I can’t believe Bulletproof Barista is the 20th book in this wonderful series that shows no signs of slowing down. Some series start feeling stale by this point, but not this one! It is just as fun and well done as the 19 books before it.
I have been an Agatha Christie fan since my early twenties, and my favorite of her characters is Hercule Poirot. When I first saw that Sophie Hannah was going to be writing new books featuring Poirot, I wasn’t certain how I felt about it. She has now released the fifth book in the series, Hercule Poirot’s Silent Night, and I have enjoyed every one of them!
