Most residents of Kingsburg know there are a handful of events that are important to the City of Kingsburg, and more specifically to the downtown. If the Swedish Festival is number one, then the Santa Lucia Day celebration might be next.
Love and Other Drugs is rated R for nudity and sexual content and I’d have to say I’ve never seen a movie that lived up to that rating more fully. And yet, hidden amidst all of that was the surprise of one of the best love stories I have ever seen.
Human Anatomy, Physiology and Sports Medicine teacher Kirby Kauk has been teaching at Reedley High School for 23 years. He also served as an Athletic Trainer at RHS until 2005. Montana born, Kirby attended Fresno State where he received his Masters, graduating in 1989.
One of the most successful events held by the Reedley Downtown Association, the Electric Farm Equipment Parade, was the brain child of local auctioneer Ed Croissant. Sometime in the fall of 2000, Ed was talking with daughter Daniele, owner of the former Coffee and Candy Shop, about ways to promote Reedley’s downtown for the upcoming holidays.
Linda Watanabe McFerrin, author of Dead Love, was kind enough to grant me an interview. Dead Love is in the Fantasy/Horror Genre and was published by Stone Bridge Press .It can be found in bookstores everywhere, including Fresno’s Barnes & Noble and, of course, Amazon.
Just like at other high schools, fall is the busiest time of the year at Reedley High School, with football games, rallies, and band performances. And at all of these gathering, there is one thing you are sure to find -- school spirit! In fact, our Pirate pride is what gives so many students the motivation to be involved with school activities.
With a determined look on his face, Miguel set out to find Eddie. He didn’t have to go far because Eddie strolled through the door as we entered the front of the shop.
“Sit,” barked Miguel as he pointed to a table near us. He hadn’t asked me to leave, so I took a seat, too. Eddie looked confused.
These poems were written by local teens who won our November poetry contest. There is quite a variety and this time we even have a winner from Parlier! The contest is open to anyone age 14-19 in the Kings River area.
One of the beauties of living in California is the rich bounty our soil produces. California generates over 350 crops, several of which are grown only in California! So how is it that we convince ourselves to settle for the quality of produce typical of a grocery store?
