The musical Anastasia will open this weekend at the College of the Sequoias in Visalia. We took a moment this week to chat with the show’s director, James McDonnell, Professor of Theatre and Resident Costume Designer, about the show.
The smash Broadway hit, Mary Poppins, is the spring musical for the Lindsay Community Theater. Show dates for Mary Poppins are April 19, 20, 26, & 27 at 7:30 p.m. and April 21 & 28 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are adults $15 ($10 online in advance) and students $5. That means it’s time for that audience-favorite musical, Fiddler on the Roof, to take over the Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater stage again in a Good Company Players production starring Dan Pessano as Tevye, playing through May 12.
Farce is a kind of comedy that often includes slapstick/physical action, leering innuendo, mistaken identities, and outrageous situations. One way to judge a farce is by how many doors are on the stage, and how often they slam open or shut. Count the doors on the set of The Good Company Players’ 2nd Space Theatre production of Ken Ludwig’s 1995 comedy Moon Over Buffalo—It’s a five-banger!

Marty was a character in search of his own play, and Marty’s Turn is that play. Marc Gonzalez created Marty as a minor character for another script, but he was so loved by readers and actors that he gets his own chance to be the focus in the Fresno Rogue Performance Festival’s Hart's Haven.
