Details at the end of this post on how to enter to win either a print or kindle copy of Holiday Hangover, and a link to purchase it from Amazon.

Zoe, dealing with a pregnancy test’s false positive, struggles to come out from under the covers, but disappointments are hard to set aside. However, with Zak’s support and his suggestion of a change of scenery, her outlook starts to improve. Zak’s close friend has offered a week’s stay at Bear Mountain Resort in the Canadian Rockies to enjoy some skiing and pampering. However, Zak confesses that his friend has recently encountered a breech in their security measures and the death of his father has set the family to start lining up on sides between maintaining the property or selling it to a competitive family member. book

A mystery? An investigation? Yes, that just might be the diversion Zoe needs.

Chance Carrington, CEO of Bear Mountain Resort, has been friends with Zak for many years, so Zak was more than accommodating to help Chance sort out his concerns. He worries that the death of his father, Daniel, may not have been an accident and the fact that the video feed of the area went down at that moment, indicate his concerns may be warranted.

The mountain has been in the family for decades, split between two branches of the family tree. Chance’s family owns and manages Bear Mountain Resort and the other part of the family, headed by Michael Carrington, owns Echo Ridge. Michael wants to consolidate the holdings into one single ownership, but Chance’s father had no interest in selling, and since he bought out his brother’s stake in the resort, he had controlling interest over his sister and the power to decide.

The Hatfields and the McCoys have nothing on the Carringtons!

Zoe and Zak may be out of their usual surroundings, but a murder investigation is more than familiar to them, and with Zoe’s “Zodar” tingling, she knows there is much more to this mystery than meets the eye. She discovers several family members with a motive to want Daniel out of the picture. Further investigation shows several also had opportunity and means, but what if family is not the lead to follow? She expands her search beyond family feuds, to find a mountain of suspects…and dangers too.

WOW! It’s like an episode of Dynasty with all the family entanglements, business disputes, and vendettas! Even the Carrington name is reminiscent of all the 80s drama I enjoyed. Kathi Daley has once again provided a very exciting mystery with several possible avenues to follow.

She has also included a family tree to help keep all the familial connections straight. Her ability to provide a cut-to-the-chase style of writing puts the investigation at the forefront, but we also get to enjoy the loving relationship between Zoe and Zak and their family. Then there are the recipes…enough to delight everyone at your family gathering…just watch your back!
