A senior Cairn girl, Minuet is a true Cairn princess, according to her foster mom, Linda. “She is happy when things go her way,” says Linda. “But, she growls a warning when I disturb her sleep or try to do something she is not on board with.” That’s OK with Linda, an experienced foster mom who is used to terrier-tude. However, she does sometimes call Minuet “Grumpy Granny.”
Minuet was living a quiet life with an older gentleman when he passed away. The family didn’t want her, so she went to a shelter. She did not do well in the shelter with all the other dogs and noise. Because she was not thriving, the shelter called Col Potter, and she went back to the rescue for the third time, having experienced the death of her person previously.Minuet, at about fourteen, does not have any serious health problems. She does have seasonal allergies for which she takes Apoquel. She also takes a doggie Prozac, mainly because she is uneasy with lots of people in her house as well as not liking other dogs or any other animals. She is currently on a course of Benzapril to help with kidney function. Linda’s vet feels she can be weaned off most of these meds when she goes to her forever home.
This little Cairn princess is looking for a quiet home with a retired person or couple. She enjoys walks and is very good on a leash, so her person needs to be active enough for several walks a day. Minuet doesn’t need a fenced-in yard, and she is not interested in toys. Linda has tried her on chew bones, but after a few minutes, they bore her. However, if another dog comes near her chew toy, it suddenly becomes her most precious possession.
Minuet is looking for a home where she will be an only dog and an adored princess. She would like a human who would shower her with love, give her one one-on-one attention, and allow Minuet to cuddle in their lap. She would not do well with a family or someone who entertains often or has a large family who comes to visit. Most importantly, no other animals of any kind.
This sweet girl deserves to live out her life with her own terrier experienced human who will cuddle and snuggle with her.
