Reedley has something very new and exciting that opened on October 16, The Honey Pearl Café. They feature Bubble tea/Boba tea drinks and much more. A couple of weeks ago we stopped by to check it out and I love the decor and feel of the place! The Mochi donuts are delicious and I look forward to discovering Boba tea. While I personally am not comfortable sitting inside a restaurant or café quite yet, I look forward to when I am because Honey Pearl feels like a perfect place to hang out. In the meantime, they offer pickup, curbside, and delivery options for people like me. Recently, we chatted with the owner, Radeth Stratton (people call him Date), about the café. Date also owns Date’s Donuts in Dinuba.

KRL: Where did the idea come from to open the café?

Date: The idea behind of opening up this cafe was a business expansion of Date’s Donuts. Date’s Donuts has been in Business for nearly 10 years. We have been successfully in the Donuts business.

KRL: Why this type of café, and why Reedley?

Inside Honey Pearl

Date: A few years ago, we added bubble tea drinks to our Date’s Donuts Menu and it has been a hit since. As our business keeps on growing, we needed to expand it. Reedley is where we live. We wanted to expand our business near home and near our Dinuba location. We have always thought of bringing something new to town, Mochi Donuts and Bubble Tea are a new trend in bigger cities so we thought why not bring that trend here to the Valley so people won’t have to go out of town to get those. It took a good 10 months from construction to opening day.

KRL: For those who don’t know, what are Mochi Donuts and Bubble Tea?

Date: Mochi Donuts are originally from Japan. They are made out of rice flour. The chewy, eggy, texture makes them different then the normal regular donuts we know. For those who don’t know, Bubble Tea/Boba tea drinks are a tea base drink that originated in Taiwan. These types of drinks usually go well with Tapioca Ball or Tapioca Pearl, the little black chewy balls that go in the bottom of the drinks also as known as Boba. Boba are made out of Tapioca Starch.

KRL: What are some of your most popular drinks and donuts so far?

Date: Our most popular drinks so far are the Brown Sugar Milk Tea with Honey Boba, The Original Black Milk Tea, and The Purple Swirl (Taro and Ube Flavor).

KRL: Future goals for the café?

Date: Our future goal is to bring more new flavored tea drinks to our menu that people have never had before.

KRL: Where are you located and what are you hours?

Date: We are located at 593 I Street across a street from Reedley College. Our business hours are Mon-Sun 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

KRL: Where can people find you online?

Date: People can find us on Social Media Instagram:
@thehoneypearlcafe and our website: www.thehoneypearlcafe.com With full menu and online ordering page.

KRL: Anything you would like to add?

Date: We do online Ordering for Pick up and Delivery through Doordash with a $25 minimum Order. Call in orders are also available.

  1. Fun article. My friends drink Bubble tea. Their small son is obsessed with it. When they first told me a few years ago , I had no idea what it was. She gets so much from family overseas. Then she took him to a place near her home PA. I see it read the recipe. Fun! Not many around.
    Great article.
