The third season of The Madame Blanc Mysteries just finished airing on AcornTV and this season was just as much fun as the previous two. Acorn TV is a perfect place to find a wide variety of mysteries.
The Madame Blanc Mystery series stars Sally Lyndsay as antiques dealer Jean White. At the beginning of the series her antiques business, based in Manchester, was in serious jeopardy with creditors demanding payments. Her partner/husband Rory had made a new acquisition that could save their bottom line, however, on his buying trip in Saint Victoire, France, he is killed in an auto accident, and the very expensive ring he was carrying is missing. Jean travels to the south of France to prepare to sell her only asset, a cottage, finalize her husband’s burial, and locate the ring, but of course, a mystery ensues and she ends up staying.
Jean’s made many friends since moving to Sainte Victoire, France: the local gendarmerie Inspector André Caron (Alex Gaumond), taxi driver Dom Hayes (Steve Edge), local garage owner Gloria (Sue Vincent), and wealthy ex-pats Judith and Jeremy James (Sue Holderness, Robin Askwith). Jean sold the infamous emerald ring she inherited in season one, and opened her own antique shop, Brodeur and White Antiques, with partner Charlie Brodeur (Sanchia McCormack). In this new season, pub owners Niall and Celine Connor, have left and sold the pub to Judith and Jeremy who have no clue what they are doing. Throughout the season, this side story provides much laughter.
The season began in December with a fun Christmas episode, and then came back in February and March for six more episodes. This season has treasure hunters, duels, gangsters, rare books, fashion shows, and kidnapping. Gloria also gets involved in some drama with a new relationship, and there might be more romance in the air as well (which made me very happy but I won’t spoil it). Dom’s Uncle Patrick also becomes a regular, helping out at the pub.
If you are looking for a light, fun, and sometimes a bit over-the-top mystery series The Madame Blanc Mysteries are a perfect choice.
