Theft in Sleepy Hollow is book two in Nupur Tustin’s cozy mystery series, and clocking in at just around 100 pages, it is a mysterious page-turning read that can also be read as a standalone.

Instead of vacationing in Paris with her friend Nicole, Sophie Fisher is heading to Sleepy Hollow, New York with her “Uncle Arthur” so he can take an art class with the well-known artist Nigel Fairchild. “Uncle Arthur” is in fact Detective Superintendent Ben Norrison and Sophie, an undercover agent, is helping him to investigate the suspicious Nigel Fairchild.

There’s been chatter that Nigel is up to no good. Nigel’s well known for his authentic looking copies of Impressionist art, but with more paintings turning up missing wherever Nigel seems to go, Ben and Sophie are worried Nigel is out to steal a famous Monet on display in Sleepy Hollow.

I inhaled this mystery in just one sitting! At first glance, the case seems rather straightforward, but it is anything but. Nupur’s writing pulled me in and had me following all the twists and turns and many suspects. I enjoyed the camaraderie between Ben and Sophie and anxiously felt the ticking of the clock as they worked to trap a thief. The side characters, especially the FBI agents who helped, added greatly to the story. The ending left me excited to read more of Sophie’s adventures. Lots of fun for readers looking for a short, fast-paced mystery.
