The Reedley College Tigers kick off the 2015 football season today as they visit Mendocino College in Ukiah.
Head Coach Randy Whited begins his seventh season as Tiger head coach, and he says the coaching experience is as much fun and challenging today as it was when he began his coaching career. “Every year can be different as team and staff dynamics can change. I can say that this year has gotten off to a very enjoyable start.”

Most football coaches will tell you they don’t believe in moral victories. Reedley College football Coach Randy Whited may or may not be in that particular group, but he has to be somewhat pleased with the way his team fought and fought before finally surrendering to Fresno City College 49-44 Saturday night in Fresno.

I’m not one to complain (don’t ask the editor about that, please), but Reedley College’s football team is getting a bit predictable. For the third straight week, the Tigers fell behind, and then rallied to take a late lead. The difference this last Saturday night was the Tigers snuffed out a late rally by Gavilan and won the game 44-33, to even their season record at 2-2.

One of the fun things about attending a sporting event is not knowing the outcome ahead of time. But Saturday night at Reedley High School Stadium, the fans not only didn’t know the outcome beforehand, they didn’t know the final score on their way out, either, after an inexcusable blunder by the game officials left a black cloud hanging over the entire event.
