Westie Puppy Gets Two New Moms for the Holidays

by Lee Juslin

When the little Westie puppy came to live with an older woman, he was a happy boy but a handful. His new mom realized quite quickly that she could not provide the best home for him, especially living in senior housing and on the second floor. With some health problems, she simply couldn’t go up and down the stairs as often as the little puppy would need, so she called Westie Rescue of Austin Texas and asked them to find him a good home.

Christmas With Westies

by Sheryl Wall

As a child, can you recall how excited you would get when the Christmas tree and stockings went up for the holidays? Or how eager you were to open the gifts under the tree? Kids are not the only ones who enjoy the holiday festivities. Our pets too can get involved in the excitement; I know mine do. As long as we make the effort to keep the holidays safe for our pets, it can be a fun time for everyone. I always have to be sure that anything hazardous to my dogs are kept out of their reach and not allow them to be munching off of the humans food. I find that if I give them their own fun activities it makes them less eager to get into what is not theirs.

The Kindness of Strangers: An Animal Rescue Story

by Lee Juslin

There must have been an angel watching over Spencer the day he was spotted running lose on a very busy highway. A couple traveling the road stopped their car and spent nearly an hour chasing him over train tracks and through overgrown terrain until they cornered him in a junkyard where they were able to capture him. They found some blood on him and took him to a vet. The vet, after checking Spencer out, turned him into a local shelter.

The West Highland White Terrier

by Sheryl Wall

In 2002, our first West Highland White Terrier (Westie for short) joined our family and I have been in love with the breed ever since. Our first Westie we named Mei Kumi Na Tisa. Her name is Swahilli for May 19, which is our Anniversary and she was our gift to each other for our first Anniversary. We chose a Swahili name because our love started in Africa but that is a whole other story. Later our Westie family grew and Cosette (Natisa's daughter) joined our family. The two of them are inseparable.
