The Cat House On The Kings

It has been a grueling month of heat and kittens. Endless, endless kittens. However the 2-week “Every Kitten Counts~Every Dollar Counts” fundraiser was a tremendous success!! The goal of $25,000 was reached, and there are just not sufficient words to convey our gratitude to you, our loyal fans and supporters. With the number of cats and kittens that come through the doors during the summer months, the additional funds mean that we can say, “Yes” more than we have to say, “No.” Unfortunately The Cat House can’t take in every single kitten. Particularly if they are black. Black cats and kittens are the most underadopted group of cats.

The past month for me has mostly been spent working on the quarterly newsletter. It is a labor of love, so I hope you will take the time to read it. The Cat House on the Kings is operating at a frenzied pace because the kitten season is in full swing. The phone rings nonstop, and there is just not enough room for all the kittens we are asked to take. To say we are overrun with kittens is like saying the ocean is a little bit wet. The local stores are having a hard time keeping up with the demand for formula and kitten bottles.

In just over a month it will be time for our Spring Open House. We are still in need of donations, big or small, we need it all. Don’t assume your donation might be too small. Seriously, even small items can be paired up with other items to make a gift basket. You can even “re-gift” a present you received but don’t need or want. We won’t tell.
