The Cat House on the Kings: Cold Weather, Animal Planet, and a Big Year

by Harvie Schreiber

The cold fog hugs the ground at The Cat House on the Kings during the winter, adding a chill to the air and making it seem even colder than it is until the elusive winter sun finally burns through (if it does). While some of our sanctuary cats are snuggled warm inside one of our many buildings, we have a number of feral and under-socialized cats who prefer the solitude—and cold—of our twelve acres along the Kings River.

Cat House on the Kings: Fundraiser, Chance to Win 5K, Keep Pets Cool, Busted?

by Jackie Dale

The Cat House on the Kings will be holding an online fundraiser from June 26 through July 8 because the unbelievable onslaught of kittens is quickly draining the coffers. Every year you think it will get better because The Cat House has fixed so many cats. But in fact, 2017 has been one of the worst years on record. An astounding number of kittens have come through the door, and people call every single day with kitten problems.

Cat House on the Kings: Auction Donations; The Good, The Bad & The Ugly; Other News

The Open House is fast approaching and will be here before you know it. Please, please, please think of something you could donate to our silent auction. The auction is the big money maker for The Cat House and we really need your donations. With the number of abandoned, rescued, and injured animals coming in, we need your help more than ever. I challenge everyone to find something they can donate to our auction.

Cat House on the Kings: Abandoned Cats, 25th Anniversary Open House, 28 days to Catch 1 Cat & Natural Rodent Control

by Jackie Dale

On a cold rainy morning staff members arriving at work shortly before dawn discovered fourteen plastic tubs, each one containing a cat, including one young mother and two tiny newborns. Abandoning animals is a crime, but people often choose to dump cats instead of getting help with low-cost spay and neuter options. We are now facing a lot of unplanned expenses to provide food, shelter, vaccinations, and medical care.

Cat House on the Kings: UnWanted Black Cats, Pokemon Fever, Kitten Therapy, Rescues, & TNR

by Jackie Dale

It has been a grueling month of heat and kittens. Endless, endless kittens. However the 2-week “Every Kitten Counts~Every Dollar Counts” fundraiser was a tremendous success!! The goal of $25,000 was reached, and there are just not sufficient words to convey our gratitude to you, our loyal fans and supporters. With the number of cats and kittens that come through the doors during the summer months, the additional funds mean that we can say, “Yes” more than we have to say, “No.” Unfortunately The Cat House can’t take in every single kitten. Particularly if they are black. Black cats and kittens are the most underadopted group of cats.

The Cat House on the Kings: Wedding Bells & Kitten Season

by Jackie Dale

The Cat House on the Kings is operating at a frenzied pace because the kitten season is in full swing. The phone rings nonstop, and there is just not enough room for all the kittens we are asked to take. To say we are overrun with kittens is like saying the ocean is a little bit wet. The local stores are having a hard time keeping up with the demand for formula and kitten bottles.

The Cat House on the Kings: Donations, S.H.A.R.E.S, New Shelter Challenge

by Jackie Dale

In just over a month it will be time for our Spring Open House. We are still in need of donations, big or small, we need it all. Don’t assume your donation might be too small. Seriously, even small items can be paired up with other items to make a gift basket. You can even “re-gift” a present you received but don’t need or want. We won’t tell.
