Something Rotten On Stage at Roger Rocka’s
Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theatre overflows with the raucous, bawdy fun of the Good Company Players production of the Karey Kirkpatrick/Wayne Kirkpatrick/John O’Farrell 2015 musical, which runs through March 15.

Another year of theatre in the Valley has come and gone, and it was another amazing one. There is so much talent in the Valley that no one needs to go to New York, Los Angeles, or San Francisco to see a great show. Let’s take a look back at some of the highlights!
The Selma Arts Center will be presenting Cabaret starting on November 8 and local actor Meg Clark will be playing the role of Sally Bowles. Meg was born in Fresno but grew up in Reedley and Dinuba. We took a moment to chat with her about her life, acting, and about taking on this role.
If you have an “Impossible Dream” (and even if you don’t), you should go to Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theatre to see the Good Company Players’ production of Man of La Mancha.
Seven years ago, the Good Company Players presented Calamity Jane, based on the Doris Day musical film, at Roger Rocka’s. Instead of using all local talent, the starring role was played by Louise Mandrell, country singer and part of the Mandrell Sisters. She was really, really good.
“Good Morning, Baltimore!”
Those words mean that the Good Company Players have time-traveled back to 1962 and the good old days of racial segregation on teenage dance shows in the musical Hairspray on stage at Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater through May 19. What a joyous blast from the past it is!
In the Spring of 2018, the Good Company Players presented Mamma Mia!, the ABBA musical, at Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater. It was a great show, and it was a big hit. Guess what? They’re at it again! If you missed it before, see it now. If you saw it before, a lot of the stars have returned, and their familiarity with the material makes it even stronger.
It is that time of year again when we look back at the year of theatre that just ended–and 2018 was another amazing year in the Valley. As usual, there were far too many shows to mention them all, but here are several of the highlights!
Like the actor said when he crashed through termite-damaged wood, “It’s just a stage I’m going through.”
I saw about forty productions in 2018, including more than a dozen shows at the Rogue Festival in the Tower District. Here’s my five (or more) favorites.
Come with me, back to the blissful eighties, when Kevin Bacon was cool enough to overturn a theocracy and bring dance back to the children—It’s the stage musical of Footloose, the Good Company Players production on the Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theatre stage until January 13.
