Make Music Day in Fresno

Dance like no one is watching. You know – don’t worry about what others may think, just jump around and wave your arms with wild abandon in an exuberant statement of self-expression. What if you sang like no one is listening? Or played a guitar or kazoo, or beat out a rhythm on a drum or box with a complete lack of self-consciousness, just for the sake of making music?

Everyone has a story to tell, or maybe two or three. On the second Wednesday of the month, a diverse crowd gathers at the Politi Branch Library in Fresno for Story Jam, a free event where they share their own tales, live and in person.

Another unfortunate aspect is the negative effect a limited amount of mental stimulation for nine weeks can have on a kid's achievement in school. Duffy Hudson: The Shadow of the Raven

This month the Fresno County Libraries are going to have something special for the Halloween season-a one man Edgar Allan Poe show, The Shadow of the Raven. The man presenting the show, Duffy Hudson, has been doing a one man Edgar Allan Poe show for 15 years! Duffy was born and raised in Ohio, lived in New York City for many years, and then landed in Los Angeles where he currently resides. He has been acting since he was eight, and acting professionally since he was 17. Duffy has had quite the varied career performing on and off Broadway, in films, TV commercials, and theatre all over the county.

Located in the heart of downtown Fresno, Arte Americas is the largest Latino Cultural Arts Center in the San Joaquin Valley and the perfect venue for this kick-off event. Plan for an afternoon of fun-filled and memorable experiences at Arte Americas.

Another long, hot Central Valley summer has finally come to a close, bringing with it cooler temperatures and a fall season ripe with activity. The Big Fresno Fair is in full swing, and haunted attractions are popping up all over the Valley like zombies from their graves, in anticipation of the year’s spookiest season.
