The Grinch Who Almost Stole Christmas: An Animal Rescue Adventure

by Joyce Brandon

The Grinch is a fictional character created by author Dr. Seuss in 1957. This funny looking green goblin was featured in the children’s book How the Grinch Stole Christmas and has become a symbol for anti-holiday sentiments and also is used to describe someone with an unforgiving and greedy attitude. Oddly enough, even the Grinch had a dog. His only companion is Max, a Coonhound who stands faithfully by his master.

Golden Girls: An Animal Rescue Adventure

We see the beauty in the eyes of a senior dog that is not readily apparent to everyone. The clouded eyes emit truth and wisdom of a long life that cannot be otherwise shared. Seniors are usually calm and quiet and easy to have around yet we are always thrilled to see the occasional blast of youth that sends them running through the room, or throwing a toy in the air.

Seven Little Words

by Joyce Brandon

Recently I was reading an article on exercising your brain (not that I think I’m losing mine or anything) and ran across a little game where you try to tell a story in just seven words. I thought this might be a fun little thing to run by our ACT Facebook friends so I asked them to tell us their rescue story in just seven words. I expected a few to respond but never expected close to seventy!

Caring Is The Key: Another Animal Rescue Adventure

by Joyce Brandon

Welcome to a glimpse of my world. Welcome to the world of anyone who is involved in animal rescue. We have to cope with a constant roller coaster ride of emotions. One minute you can conquer the world and with just a tick of the clock or the ring of a phone you come crashing back to earth with a resounding thud. This morning the phone conversation, condensed above, changed the momentum of my day.

Legally Cute: From Rescue Dog to the Stage

by Joyce Brandon

Good thing it is not illegal to be this cute! When you meet Raphi you know in an instant there is something special about this miniscule guy. At just five pounds, this little white wonder captures your heart in an instant. I am a huge Chihuahua fan, known as the Chihuahua whisperer to my co-rescuers, and I love them all; but I have to admit that Raphi has that “x” factor, that special bit of charisma that can steal your heart away in a flash. Thanks to Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater in Fresno, you will have the opportunity to experience that “x” factor for yourself. Raphi has been selected to play the role of Bruiser in the upcoming production of Legally Blond
