Reedley College Football Game Recap/October 23
The Reedley College Tigers opened their defense of the Valley Conference championship with a hard fought 32-28 win over the Sierra College Wolverines Saturday night at Reedley High School Stadium.
The Tigers third win in a row was much tougher than the first two, as they led early, built a big lead, saw it evaporate, fell behind, then scored in the final two minutes for the win.
Poet and Philosopher George Santayana is credited with coining the phrase "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." For the Reedley College Football team, the opposite is true. They’ve forgotten about the past - an 0-3 start - and seem intent on not repeating it after their second dominating win in a row, a 32-14 win over Hartnell College Saturday night at Reedley High School Stadium.
In Bowling, a 300 game is called “perfect”. In Golf, a hole-in-one is considered a “perfect” shot. Perfection in football is a bit more difficult to define, but the Reedley College Tigers came pretty close Saturday night as they scored their first win of the season, dominating the West Hills Falcons 33-7 at Reedley High School Stadium.
He used to roam the sidelines, motivating 80 Reedley College football players to be the best they can be. Now he sits behind a desk trying to motivate thousands of Reedley College students to do the same. He’s Reedley College’s Vice President of Student Services, Michael White.
Missed opportunities were the underlying story as the Reedley College Tigers opened the 2010 football season with a 23-20 loss to the Foothill College Owls Saturday night in Los Altos Hills. The Tigers had three possessions that started in Owl territory in the First half and scored no points in any of the three. The Reedley College Football team begins the 2010 season on Saturday, September 11. After taking over for Michael White last season, second year Head Coach Randy Whited will try to maintain the momentum of a 2009 season that saw the Tigers come within an eyelash of playing for the State Championship.
Will Goldbeck is a man who’s worn a lot of hats in his life. He has an incredible collection of sports-related baseball caps but that’s not what I’m referring to. When it comes to the local sports scene, Will has done it all -- often at the same time.
