Taking a Break!

by Lorie Lewis Ham

KRL is taking a vacation this weekend! I still have a lot of writing I need to do for some upcoming online events for my new book, One of You, I decided it was best to take another week off from my KRL duties! I also have a lot of KRL catching up to do as well including some website maintenance. There was a midweek guest post this past Wednesday and there will likely be another one this week, and there will be one here this coming week and a new issue will be back next weekend!

Down the Research Rabbit Hole

by Sheila Lowe

When it comes to mystery fiction, I’ve never been a fast writer. It used to take me a year to finish a novel, and I got that down to nine months (the parallel to childbirth is not lost on me). I could use the excuse that I also have a career that pays the bills. Like my character, Claudia Rose, I work as an independent forensic document examiner. Which means that unless I’m scheduled to testify in court or at a deposition—dates that often change because court is like making a movie, lots of ‘hurry up and wait’—I can pretty much make my own schedule.

Agatha Christie, She Watched By Teresa Peschel: Review/Giveaway/Interview

by Lorie Lewis Ham

We don’t review a lot of non-fiction here at KRL, but when author Teresa Peschel reached out to me about her new book Agatha Christie, She Watched, it not only sounded like a lot of fun, but also something that KRL’s readers would be interested in, so here we are! I had the pleasure of also interviewing Teresa about the book and I don’t want to give too much away from the interview, so this will be a bit of a different review.

Why I Love Writing Cozies

by Marilyn Levinson/Allison Brook

There are many reasons why I love writing cozy mysteries. It was such fun to create the town of Clover Ridge, Connecticut, for the Haunted Library series, a picturesque town with a large Green in its center, that I filled with fun characters, many of whom appeared in book after book--as long as they weren't murdered or a murderer.

Fondant Fumble By Jenn McKinlay: Review/Giveaway

by Cynthia Chow

NFL professional football players and cupcakes wouldn’t seem to go hand in hand, so no one is more surprised than Fairy Tale Cupcakes owner Melanie DeLaura by her new franchise candidates. Star quarterback Keogh Graham and his Arizona Scorpions teammate Tyler Matthews are interested in a George Foreman-like business tie-in, one that will keep them profitable after their eventual retirement.
