Welcome to a glimpse of my world. Welcome to the world of anyone who is involved in animal rescue. We have to cope with a constant roller coaster ride of emotions. One minute you can conquer the world and with just a tick of the clock or the ring of a phone you come crashing back to earth with a resounding thud. This morning the phone conversation, condensed above, changed the momentum of my day.
Good thing it is not illegal to be this cute! When you meet Raphi you know in an instant there is something special about this miniscule guy. At just five pounds, this little white wonder captures your heart in an instant. I am a huge Chihuahua fan, known as the Chihuahua whisperer to my co-rescuers, and I love them all; but I have to admit that Raphi has that “x” factor, that special bit of charisma that can steal your heart away in a flash. Thanks to Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater in Fresno, you will have the opportunity to experience that “x” factor for yourself. I have been involved in animal rescue for four or five years now. I have fostered hundreds of dogs and cats, young and old, small and large, sweet and not so sweet; but, this is the first time I’ve fostered a dog worthy of his own verb. You’ve been renned is a phrase I’ve started using and anyone who knows my foster dog Ren knows exactly what I mean. I am convinced the term renned will be to calamity as Google is to search.
When you are involved in animal rescue, very often if feels as if you are fighting a losing battle. Too many animal owners are oblivious to the fact that their actions or inactions, as it may be, have long reaching and long lasting effects. The story of our little mountain puppies demonstrates this so clearly
Animal Compassion Team of California (ACT) is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in August of 2009. ACT fulfills the vision of several good friends who were both volunteers and employees of the Central California SPCA.
