Reedley High School Golf Team

by Cameron Calvillo

For years now, the Reedley High Boys Golf Team has brought pride back to the Pirates. And this year, when the golf courses are greener than ever, they look to do it again.
Every year since 2011, Reedley High has been the league champion in golf, except for the heart break in 2014 when Hoover claimed the title.

Sports Medicine Team at Reedley High School

by Cameron Calvillo

Just a few months ago, football season was electrifying the air at Sal Gonzalez field. People noticed the cheering crowd, the enthusiastic cheerleaders, and, of course, the players on the field. But what people may have not noticed is that mixed in among the players, coaches, water boys, and refs on the sidelines, there was a team of kids not at all focused on the score. This was the Sports Medicine Team, binding, wrapping, and tending to the wounds of the players who were injured during the game. Reedley High’s football season ended months ago, but that doesn’t mean the Sports Medicine team isn’t still hard at work.

Local Teacher Profile: Immanuel Teacher Josh Justin

by Breanna Wood

I have had the pleasure of having Mr. Josh Justin as a teacher for both Biology and Chemistry. I took Chemistry a year ago with a different teacher, and was not able to comprehend the material which led to me having to repeat the class. Mr. Justin was always willing to put in extra work with me on things I didn’t understand, and he helped me excel in every area of Chemistry.

New Campus for Immanuel Elementary

by Breanna Wood

The student population of Immanuel Elementary has been growing rapidly these last few years. The administration realized that more buildings were needed, or new students would have to be turned away due to lack of classroom space. Superintendent Ryan Wood stated, “The enrollment growth was happening very fast, and we knew if it continued, which we projected it would, we would need more classrooms.”

by Cameron Calvillo

Every Tuesday at twelve forty-five, the Reedley High Students for Peace Club volunteers their lunch time to better understand the problems of the world and figure out how they can do their part to help. The students, ranging from freshmen to seniors, come from all backgrounds, each carrying differing opinions and views. But all this is left at the door as each student shares the same dream of curing the injustices of the world, one step at a time.

Coming Full Circle

by Syd Blue

I had my first flying lesson on my fourteenth birthday. What a birthday present! Now as Chief Pilot running an aviation business specializing in aerial surveillance, I fly from California to Texas, but writing was my first love. I started writing novels in the back of my parent’s small airplane when I was small enough to fit in the baggage compartment. When I was a child, my family took trips to grandma’s house in a single-engine four-seater. Since my parents had more children than seats, they put me in the baggage compartment. There was nothing to do back there. No windows. So I wrote stories and started my first book at age nine.

Immanuel School’s Choral Music Department

by Kami Hinds

Immanuel School's Choral Music Department is a great program in which to be involved. The choir program, directed by Mr. Rick Robbins, has proved to be highly successful throughout the years. There are five choirs at Immanuel. There is a Junior High choir, a Men's choir, a Women's choir, a Concert choir, and the international award winning Chamber Singers. A student has the opportunity to sing with several of these choirs during their Immanuel experience.
