When I launched the KRL Coming Attractions Reading Challenge in January, the whole point was to task myself to read books with tropes I didn't gravitate to, authors that were new to me, and amateur sleuths I didn't necessarily identify with. So far, choosing a theme has been easy since I've only had to look as far as my list of ‘least liked’ reading tropes. But this month I found inspiration in an unusual place–a book box.

In 2020, I reviewed a record 181 entertaining books and explored a few cookbooks along with connecting with talented and delightfully friendly authors, including some beta reading opportunities. It was again a daunting task to choose my annual “Tops” because every book, and a few television shows, have provided me with hours of entertainment and some inspiration.
New Arcadia, Max Marley’s most prodigious project, is complete, and Georgie and her husband Jack have been invited (more like commanded) to its soft opening with an all-expense paid, deluxe, pet-friendly stay. They had planned to spend their first anniversary on a beach in Cancun, but they agreed to stop off at New Arcadia first to support, if not placate, their boss. Until...BOOM! What felt like an earthquake, shaking and shimmying, turned out to be two massive explosions.
