A friendly, mixed-breed girl, Christina, Tina to her friends, was living a good life with an older couple who loved her very much. Sadly, her humans got to the point where they needed to downsize and decided to sell their home and move to a mobile home park. In addition, Tina, as a young active girl, was just too much dog for the aging couple, and, with no yard to run in, they knew she would not be happy in the new home. Tina’s humans tried to re-home her with friends but could not find the right new home for her. They decided to list Tina as free to a good home on social media. They did not realize the danger that Tina could fall into the wrong hands. Luckily, Col. Potter saw the ad and moved immediately to take her in. While the couple was relieved that their beloved Tina was now in good hands, they cried when a Col. Potter volunteer came to take her.
Tina is judged to be about five years old. She is a mixed breed of Pug, Boston terrier, German Shepherd, and Dalmatian. She is a happy, active dog and is now residing with Claudia, a very experienced Col. Potter foster parent. When Tina came into Col. Potter, she was about ten-twelve pounds overweight, and Claudia has been working to reduce her weight. She says that Tina has no health problems, but she gets anxious when being groomed, and also lunges and barks at bikes and golf carts when walking. Something else Claudia is working on.
Despite her dislike of bikes and golf carts, Tina is well-behaved. She is a sweet, gentle girl that does not jump on the furniture, walks well on a leash, and does not get on the bed. Claudia says she has a loud bark for her size and would be good for protection with someone who lives alone.
Tina likes to play with toys and often piles them up in her crate. She gets along well with Claudia’s other foster, an active puppy. Claudia also had a blind dog, and Tina was very kind and patient with him. It is unknown how she would be with cats, but she would enjoy older children to play with.
Tina would like a home with a yard to run in. She is also used to a pet door with access to the yard and one in her new home would be a bonus. She needs a person or family active enough to play with her and take her on occasional walks. With her sweet, loving nature, Tina will be a wonderful companion to some lucky someone.
If you would like to learn more about CP, volunteer, or make a very welcome financial donation to help dogs like Christina, go to their website or FB page. Christina is part of Col. Potter’s Mix-It-Up group of Cairn mixes and non-Cairn rescues so her adoption fee is considerably less.
Remember, breed rescues like CP with an all-volunteer staff, depend on financial, tax free donations from individuals as well as support for their fund raising activities. You can also use your donation to name a rescued dog to honor a special family member, a friend, or a beloved pet.
