With the holidays around the corner, people are scrambling to find gifts for their loved ones. Video games are the perfect gift. They are fun and something you can do safely at home during the pandemic. The video game industry has not slowed down during this time so there are plenty of games to choose from.

Persona 5 Royal, an expansion and improvement to Persona 5, was released late last year for the Playstation. The game is full of hundreds of hours of gameplay and is not only fun but has a great soundtrack. The game is a turn-based JRPG but brings unique gameplay elements to breathe new life into the genre. The game allows you to not only control the main character Joker during story elements and battle but to play as the other characters in battle as well. If you know someone who likes anime, RPGS, and/or turn-based strategy games, I highly recommend gifting them Persona 5 Royal.

My next recommendation is Phasmophobia, an online multiplayer horror game which released for the PC on September 18, 2020. In the game, you play as a ghost hunter and work together with your friends to do research on ghosts in different settings. The game features many well thought out jumpscares and allows the players to use their real voice to communicate with the ghosts. The game is a good time for friends and family this holiday season.

Spiderman is a household name and is arguably one of the best Marvel superheroes. In 2018, Insomniac Games released an incredible Spiderman game for the Playstation, and it received rave reviews. On November 12, 2020, a spin-off game, featuring Miles Morales, was released. Both games are beloved by Spiderman fans and gamers alike. These games are a perfect gift for the Spiderman or superhero fan in your life.

Xbox has become a powerhouse in the gaming industry for many reasons, one being their recent adoption of their service Games Pass. With a $15 a month subscription, Games Pass users have access to hundreds of games. Gifting a subscription to Games Pass for your loved one this holiday season will ensure they are never bored.
