The pandemic caused many games that gamers all around the world were excited for to be delayed. But despite all that, amazing games were still released last year; some games I consider to be masterpieces. January is my favorite month because it means it is time for me to discuss my top five favorite games of the previous year.

2021 has been a strange year for video games as the pandemic is finally starting to catch up with game studios. Many highly anticipated games have been delayed to next year, and there have been many lulls in new games to play. I have found myself replaying many of my favorite games as I have nothing new to play. Hope is not lost, however, because Playstation surprised all of us by hosting a State of Play showcase earlier this month.

The first few months of the year are usually slow for games as everyone is preparing for summer game releases and they are still reeling from the busyness of the holiday season, but this year every month has been filled with exciting announcements.

Playstations 5 and Xboxes One X/S continue to be hard to acquire, despite the consoles now being out for nearly five months. However, just a few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to snag one for myself. It was a stressful and taxing journey, however, which brings me to my point. Why are these consoles so hard to acquire? The answer is the pandemic.

While 2020 was terrible for a myriad of reasons, the video game industry thrived. At a time when people needed an escape most, video games provided. It is almost impossible to determine the best games of 2020 because so many amazing games released. So instead I will be determining my favorite games of 2020, they may not all be considered the best by all critics, but they are the games that I personally loved the most last year.

The gold medal for all-around wonderful kitty could easily go to darling Chicken Little! This cutiepie never misses an opportunity to hoot it up with her friends, explore any nook or cranny, and make it her mission to check out whatever happens to be going on. Chicken Little came along way after suffering a toe injury calling for immediate amputation. She's all better now and you can't even notice she's missing a rear toe. What an adorable combination she is of fun-loving spirit and sweet, deep affection, a girl who will easily capture hearts in a forever family that cherishes her.
