Jane Yellowrock is a fighter. A Native American skinwalker sharing her soul with a mountain lion (known as Beast), motorcycle-riding Jane kills rogue vampires while she works for the biggest vamp in the American Southeast. For nine novels, Faith Hunter has created traps, obstacles and mysteries for Jane to solve and overcome, with occasional short stories and novellas to flesh out characters and fill in gaps in the narrative.

Nineteen of those less-than-novel-length stories have been gathered into Blood in Her Veins. Usually, novella/shorts collections are small volumes, but this one weighs in at over 500 pages, thanks to some new, never-been-published novellas. They are arranged chronologically from the nineteenth century to more-or-less now, chronicling the world of Jane Yellowrock and friends. Sometimes Jane is a mere visitor in someone else’s story. Some of the stories have been in other anthology collections, others have only been available online or in audio format. Each one is a part of the Jane Yellowrock saga, including the ones that aren’t narrated by Jane.

Molly Trueblood features in several tales. Jane’s BFF (except for a while after Jane killed Molly’s sister, who was dealing with demons) is an earth-witch married to a closeted male witch (Evan) and mother to a powerful double-witch-line child (Angie).

HEAR…the thoughts of a cougar (The animal kind, not an aging female who preys on the young, although Jane has some thoughts and is a lot older than she looks…).
DISCOVER…what vampires and shapeshifters live in the bayous.
PREVIEW…the leading lady of a new Faith Hunter series.
FOLLOW…the development of Ricky Bo, Jane’s ex-boyfriend.
LEARN…about her current boyfriend, George (aka Bruiser) and how they first met.

Jane is tough and dangerous, but she doesn’t kill for fun, only because she has to – mind you, she often gets paid for it! There are appearances by many of the recurring characters in Jane’s world. Think of this book as a crash course in Janeology, filling in gaps between books. If you want to go for a degree, start with Skinwalker, the first book in the saga, and don’t stop until you reach Shadow Rites, which comes out in April. Jane is one of the wildest chicks in the urban fantasy realm, and she’s one damsel who doesn’t need a prince to rescue her when she’s in distress. Give her some silver-tipped ammo and wooden stakes; she’ll fight her way out.
