A show about cast out spies, Burn Notice delivers roaring action, great family dynamics, and a good love story between its leads. I don’t know why I waited so long to catch up with this show and am glad I didn’t wait any longer.
Already having run for five seasons on the USA network, this highly popular show comes back for its sixth season this summer. I always meant to get into this show, led by the great Jeffery Donovan and Gabrielle Anwar as Michael Westen and Fiona Glenanne respectively, but somehow I never did. This is such a fun show and the character interactions that give most of the humor and drama are so good. The stuff they do week to week makes it like watching a mini movie each week. 
The basic plot of the show is that Michael Westen gets burned (a real life term for spies), which means intelligence agencies won’t employ you or come near you. To get answers, Michael is forced to stay in Miami with his ex-girlfriend, Fiona, and best friend, Sam Axe (played by the charming and talented Bruce Campbell), and work odd jobs for people who are desperate. Most of seasons one through four are about Michael looking for the people who burned him and have generally hounded him since arriving in Miami.
The show is great and one of my favorite things is that they actually film in Miami and hardly ever use any special effects when shooting some of the set pieces like explosions, car chases, and gunfights. It is the perfect summer show to watch, and even has some great character development in certain episodes that don’t rely too heavily on the client of the week.
The new season doesn’t premiere until June 14, and the seasons are not incredibly long, so there’s still time to catch up with this show if you aren’t watching already. At first, I was hesitant because this was yet another spy show, but once I started watching I was hooked, and so will you be. Learn more on the show’s website.
