My new kidney and I are glad to be back and ready to share fun books that might find their way under your tree this year!

bookA snow globe as a murder weapon? Mayor Lewis Frost, known as “Frosty,” is dealing with controversy in the city council. When he asks curio shop manager Camryn Brooks to get on the council, she agrees. But, arriving at his office to discuss it, Frosty is dead from the snow globe she sold him that day. Among the shards is a large diamond. Frosty the Dead Man is third in Christine Husom’s Snow Globe Mystery series.

bookMore diamonds show up in Iced Under by Barbara Ross. In the fifth book of Maine Clambake Mystery, it’s snowing and the rivers are iced over in Busman’s Harbor. Julie Snowden, owner of the Snowden Family Clambake Co., and her mom are hunkered down when a mysterious package arrives. Inside is an enormous black diamond necklace that belonged to Julie’s great-grandmother. It disappeared in 1920. A search for clues leads Julie through her mother’s troubled family history.

bookDoing a bit of embroidery for Christmas presents? Take time to read Better Off Thread, the tenth in the Embroidery Mystery series by Amanda Lee. Marcy Singer, owner of the Seven-Year Stitch in Tallulah Falls, Oregon, is asked to play an elf to a friend’s Santa for children at the hospital. When the hospital’s administrator is found dead, evidence points to Santa. It’s up to Marcy, her police officer boyfriend, and her Irish Wolfhound Angus to stitch together the clues before someone else is crossed off Santa’s list for good.

New Series

bookWeeks before the annual Inversgail Literature Festival in Scotland, four new owners have taken possession of a bookshop in the Highlands. But the move to Janet Marsh’s house is stalled because of vandalism. She believes it’s the work of an advice columnist for the local paper who is intent on being an investigative reporter. Next thing you know, the woman is found dead in Janet’s garden shed. Behind the bookshop are bags of letters telling of all the people the reporter hurt. It’s Plaid and Plagiarism from the pen of Molly MacRae.

bookWhen a husband shows up at Detective Jo Larsen’s desk in a Dallas suburb, saying his wife is missing, she thinks it might be a runaway bored wife. But she discovers he has a stranglehold on the money and her first marriage fell apart after the death of her son. Walk Into Silence is the third book in Maggie Ryan Mysery by Susan McBride.

Returning Favorite

bookMaintaining good personal relationships with their suppliers is one of the secrets of the Cackleberry Club Café’s success. When Suzanne goes to a dairy to pick up cheese, she finds the farmer dead. Now she, along with Petra and Toni, vow to find the killer. But as they get closer to the truth, the killer has his own plans. Egg Drop Dead is Laura Childs’ seventh in the Cackleberry Club Mysteries. Recipes included.

  10. What a great selection. Some of the Christmas titles are a real hoot: Better Off Thread and Frosty the Dead Man. I can hear humor written into these murder mysteries. All sounds good. I hear Laura Childs has a thriller out now under a different AKA author name.
