Fresno Bully Rescue shares their animal rescue adventures with us every other month. You can find more of their columns here and on KRL News & Reviews.

November is National Senior Pet month, a time dedicated to appreciating senior pets. It’s true that adopting a pitbull is a wonderful and selfless experience. However, when most people think of adoption, they envision choosing a puppy or a younger dog. We would like to take this opportunity to promote some of our wonderful senior residents in search of adoption.

River

You might remember our sweet River from a previous story. She has been with FBR for seven years. Her walk is getting a little slower and stiffer, her naps longer, but watch her eyes light up when she sees her favorite people. When she finds her home, a bed for her in every room would be her dream come true. Oh, and snacks — she is the snack queen!

Jensen

Jensen is the patriarch of FBR. He has been with us for eight years, after being abandoned in a field. He is self-assured, curious, and saucy. One of his favorite things to do is go for a car ride, and lately he’s been going on weekly outings to the lake and park. His adventure companion reports that Jensen is always thrilled to be out of the shelter, taking in the smells, soaking up the sun, just enjoying being a dog.

Added note on Jensen: It is with a sad heart, that we have to announce the passing of Jensen on November 20, 2023. We will take fond memories with us, including lots of pack walks at the old shelter. Trips to the lake. The Bully Walks with your best friend Rebecca, where you would use your best party trick of getting all four of your paws into one bucket, and you got to see all your friends. Maybe you never got a typical home, but you found a family and you were loved by so many. Run free sweet boy..

Boss

Finally, let’s talk about big Boss. Adopted as a puppy in 2013, he was returned to our care in 2022. He is a sizable brindle, weighing in at 75 pounds. Boss is a silly boy that’s keen to check out whatever it is that you might be up to. He’s housetrained, and a great plus is that he loves kids. Being ten means that his needs are simple, just a peaceful place to hang out.

Our three amazing seniors would all need to be exclusive stars of your household, but we feel that’s well deserved. You can find out more information about any of our seniors at our website.
