Puss in Boots is a computer-animated movie that tells the cat’s story before the Shrek movies occurred. Just like in the Shrek movies, Puss is voiced by actor Antonio Banderas. The movie shares about how he was in an orphanage as a kitten and became best friends with Humpty Dumpty who was obsessed with finding magic beans.

As they grew up, Humpty Dumpty got into a lot of trouble. He ended up tricking Puss into being with him during a bank robbery, which caused Puss to be accused of a crime he didn’t commit, therefore making him an outlaw.

Seven Years later they are reunited and Humpty Dumpty talks Puss into joining him and the cat Kitty Softpaws to steal the magic beans from the dangerous outlaws Jack and Jill. They plan to get the beans to go up the beanstalk where they can get the Golden Goose. Puss agrees to do it so he can give the stolen money back to his adoptive mother and hometown, and so he can clear his name. However, Humpty has other plans, and after getting the Golden Goose again betrays Puss and lands him in jail. The story doesn’t stop there however but I don’t want to spoil the end.

This wasn’t one of those movies I felt I had to see but was looking for a movie that I could take my daughter to and I was surprised that I found myself enjoying it as well. My daughter loved it and laughed at various points during the movie. She talked about it on the way home recapping the parts that stood out to her. I liked how they brought characters like Jack and the Beanstalk and Humpty Dumpty into the story.

Puss in Boots is full of friendship, revenge and forgiveness. It’s a good movie for the whole family to enjoy.

Puss in Boots is now playing at Dinuba Platinum Theatres 6. Showtimes can be found on their website.
