After helping us out “temporarily” with our Coming Attractions column for quite some time after Sunny Frazier became ill, Shawn finally needed to hand the reins over to someone new. So we are happy to announce that Victoria Fair has taken over and this is her first column. We are so grateful for Shawn filling in for so long, and for Victoria stepping up to take it over when the time came we needed someone new. Each version of Coming Attractions has had its own style and we look forward to seeing what Victoria does with it!

As I stare out my window, transfixed by the bejeweled leaves tumbling to the ground, I can’t help but wonder where October went. Of course, the fall décor slowly being pushed to the clearance racks at stores, as Christmas decorations infiltrate every aisle and endcap doesn’t help. But I refuse to allow fall and Halloween’s holiday stepsister, Thanksgiving, to be ignored. Which is why for my Featured Five, five upcoming releases that have caught my attention, I’m focusing on mystery books that bring all the Thanksgiving “feels” while satisfying my deep hunger for a substantial mystery. I’ve also turned my attention to one historical mystery, Murder in the Ranks by Kristi Jones, which emphasizes the sacrifices men and women made during World War II while treating the underlying mystery with authenticity and respect. So grab a hot beverage and kick up your feet while you enjoy the parade of upcoming releases that will appeal to those looking for traditional, cozy, historical, paranormal, psychic, pet, Amish, romantic, and even mildly spicy mysteries.
