It’s that time of year again–my favorite time–Halloween season! And no Halloween season would be complete without a visit to The Grove Haunt in Sanger–one of the top haunts in the entire country. The Grove opens this year on October 5. KRL took some time to chat with Grove owner Lore Callahan about the new season, and in October we will have an article on some of their popular Midway characters! We may even have some video to share with you! Be sure and check out last year’s full article on The Grove here in KRL.

Lorie: Is there anything new at The Grove for the Halloween season this year?

Lore: This is our “13th Year of Fear,” a milestone many haunted attractions look forward to. We’re well known for changing things up every year and we’re doing it again with different scenes and characters.

Lorie: Will there be entertainment in the Midway this year? And if so do you know who and when they will perform?

Lore: Our usual midway characters will be mingling with folks and we will have a couple nights of live Bluegrass too. On weekends, we welcome back the “Graveyard Dance Crew” from Coarsegold who will be putting on a spooky show several times a night. We’ll be having our “Sunday, Bloody Sunday” Party with the most awesome MoFo Party Band the 28th and we’re also having our Hallow’s Eve Party Halloween night. Both parties will have pumpkin carving and costume contests with cash prizes.

Lorie: Who are some of the reoccurring characters at the Grove each year?

Lore: Billy Bob! Ralpf, Delma Loo, Edgrr, Professor P.T. Phantasma, Eegore and Creature, and Maverick Cadaverick, plus a new addition this year, TBA. We hope Angus will return of Shamus and Angus fame but so sadly, we lost Shamus to a motorcycle accident in June.

Lorie: What do you love the most about the Grove’s Halloween season?

Lore: The gathering of us as a crew that has become a family reunion every year and the happy people who come out to The Grove as customers to enjoy all the hard work and heart that we put into it every year…they get it…and love it.

Lorie: What kind of food is available to purchase in the Midway this year?

Lore: We’ll have roasted corn on the cob this year plus Kettle Korn, Corn dogs, pizza, burritos, funnel cakes…I could go on.

The evil Scotts

Lorie: Will Tan be doing his magic show this year?

Lore: The Theatre de Mist-eek! will be back and then some! And the Unique Curiosity Shop.

Lorie: Any other special features beyond the haunted areas this year?

Lore: The usual great time and clown paintball too.

Lorie: Anything you would like to add?

Lore: The Grove is like no other place on earth when it comes to the complete Halloween experience. The more places we go see, the more we realize how special The Grove is. And when you ad the amazing long running Boo Crew to such an amazing place, well, you just gotta come see for your self. It’s the perfect combination of fun and fright. Folks are laughing as much as they’re screaming.

Our daytime Billy Bob’s Pumpkin Grove is way fun too!
