At Fresno Bully Rescue we are all about community. There are so many different communities other than just the collective community you think of when you think about the area you live in or for the areas that we service for adoption. Being at community events in our area and in fact, up and down the state help people understand who we are, what we do, and why we love bully breeds so much. It also gives us an opportunity to educate the public about the breed and their attributes and explain how exploited the pit bulls are and the great need for spay, neuter, and adoption.

October is right around the corner, which means we are having our biggest event. It’s our annual BullyBooWalk! All breeds are welcome so we get to see a myriad of dogs and their owners while interacting with them in a way that we may not normally. Volunteers also bring adoptable dogs from our shelter to have a wonderful day and to be seen by potential adopters, who are attending with their four-legged family members and really show off what amazing family dogs they are. So, get your walking shoes ready! You’ll get to wear your dog out with a two mile walk around Woodward Park. Have some fun and dress your doggy up in their best Halloween costume, the park will be filled with vampire Chihuahuas and princess pit bulls. We’ve had some seriously creative costumes ready to join in the costume contest held after the walk.

One of the special boys that will be joining us at the BullyBooWalk this year is Bixby. He’s a handsome young guy and a total catch of a dog. Bixby is fantastic with other dogs of any size, male or female. No cats please. We frequently use him as a tester dog because he is pretty good at matching the other dog’s energy, even though he is very playful. Bixby could use a little training, just some basic manners. Bixby has a fun, confident, friendly, playful, personality that you just can’t teach. Bixby would make a fantastic dog for an active family, he loves all outdoor adventures, including swimming and hiking. He minds his manners out in public and has done great at multiple events with every person and dog he meets. He’s been to restaurants, wineries, large gatherings, and parks all with great success. He even knows some obedience such as sit, shake and down. He also did well in a crate at night when he was on a doggy pass. This intelligent boy picks up new commands and ideas quickly. He just needs the right home that’s willing to put that effort into him. Maybe the BullyBooWalk will be the event that finally finds his family!

Lydia will also be joining us at the park. Let me tell you what, Lydia is sweet as pie! She’s a nice small size at under 40 pounds, with a medium energy, and is a great walk. She loves people and people love her, she is full of kisses and loves to sit on your lap. Lydia does well with other dogs, both male and female. She has the cutest little zoomies when she gets excited, then will promptly plop on your lap for kisses. Keep an eye out for this compact cutie at the walk!
