Fresno Bully Rescue shares their animal rescue adventures with us every other month. You can find more of their columns here and on KRL News & Reviews.

At Fresno Bully Rescue we are all about community. There are so many different communities other than just the collective community you think of when you think about the area you live in or the areas that we service for adoption. Being at community events in our area and in fact up and down the state help people understand who we are, what we do, and why we love bully breeds so much. It also gives us an opportunity to educate the general public about the breed and their attributes and also explain how exploited they are and the great need for spay, neuter, and adoption.

One of our very favorite events is our Bully Boo Walk. This is an event we put on for the community. It is also one of our largest fundraisers of the year. It is a fun dog walk and family day with tons of vendors from the community, food, music, raffle and an extremely popular doggy Halloween costume contest.

All breeds are welcome so we get to see a myriad of dogs and their owners and get to interact with them in a way that we may not normally. Volunteers also bring adoptable dogs from our shelter to have a wonderful day out, be seen by potential adopters who are attending with their four-legged family members and really show off what amazing family dogs they are and how wonderful they can be at a very large social gathering.

Tex

This year one of our favorite dogs we are looking forward to taking to the walk from the shelter is Tex. Tex is a big boy who has no idea how large he is. He will try to snuggle like a tiny dog; he also gets along with and enjoys playing with dogs of all sizes, including small dogs. He loves treats, knows basic commands, is house trained and great on leash. He loves the water and would make a great hiking and lake dog. We just know he is going to have a wonderful time at the event, and we are hoping that he will find his forever family there.

I know for a lot of us at FBR the best part of this walk is getting to see former FBR dogs with their forever families enjoying the day. So many dogs have been through our shelter to go on to lead their best lives with their forever families. The walk gives us an opportunity to see dogs that were adopted even ten or more years ago. Somehow we never forget them and their families never let us. They love to bring them and let us see just how well they are doing. It’s a truly special experience.

We hope that this year is bigger and better than ever and hope to see many faces from our community smiling and having fun, two and four legged alike. Tex will be there with bells on (or another fun costume), and we have high hopes for him. For more information or if you would like to register for the walk, please follow this link: fresnobullyrescue.org/bullyboowalk. We hope to see you there!
