The museum has four different main gallery wings covering everything from automobile history to the Old West to world history. The Blackhawk Museum also has some of the oldest wildlife pieces and artifacts of diverse cultures throughout history. Residents and tourists alike love visiting this museum.

Tickets are pretty affordable at $12 for adults and $8 for children and senior citizens. Group discounts are also available. Here’s what you need to know about Blackhawk Museum if you’re traveling to Danville or the San Ramon area.

Galleries at the Blackhawk Museum

There is plenty to see and do in the Blackhawk Museum. The famous Automotive Gallery has an impressive collection of historic and vintage vehicles. You can explore the lives of American Settlers and Native Americans at the Spirit of the Old West gallery. Or, you can learn about the wild animals at the Spirit of The Old West exhibit.

You can also check out the Art of Africa, which is a gallery that features artwork from indigenous people from sub-Saharan Africa. The Into China gallery is currently under construction. This gallery features masterpieces and artwork that capture the Chinese culture, past and present. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Museum Events & Private Events

The Blackhawk Museum hosts several events throughout the year. The Pebble Beach Road Trip 2019 takes place on August 18 from 5:45 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lodge at Pebble Beach. Tickets start at $475 and up and include a Pebble Beach Concourse poster as well as general admission to the Pebble Beach Concourse Program. Guests will also receive a round trip in the Black Tie VIP Coach bus.

You also have the option to host a private event. The Blackhawk Museum has become the prime location for catered events such as birthday parties, holiday parties, weddings, and more. All events take place in the Automotive Dining Room, which is large and spacious enough for your next private event. You can celebrate year-round with family friends except on Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Thanksgiving.

Group Tours

If you’re new to the museum, you’ll want to start with a group tour. The Blackhawk Museum offers group tours to parties of 10 or more. Groups with over 20 people will be split up into smaller groups, each with its Docent or Tour Guide. Pricing is available by calling the museum for more information.

There are also non-group docent tours available with free admission. They’re available on the second Saturday of each month as well as every Saturday and Sunday. You can plan your group tour up to four weeks in advance.

Directions & Accessibility

The Blackhawk Museum is on 3700 Blackhawk Plaza Circle in Danville, California. However, it’s close enough to San Ramon and other communities. It’s on the North East corner of Blackhawk Plaza and is behind the Anthropology building. You’ll quickly find the Blackhawk Museum with its iconic elephant statue situated at the top of the stairs, next to the grand fountains.

Wheelchair accessibility is available. Parking is available at Francesca’s or the Montessori’s businesses main parking lot. The Blackhawk Museum is also near to some of the best shopping centers in the East Bay area. You’ll get to explore boutiques, galleries, restaurants, shops, and more. There’s also the Blackhawk Grille, which has an outdoor terrace.
