Marigold (see her story below)

If you don’t work in rescue, you may not be aware, but over the last year especially, the number of homeless pets and pets being returned to shelters and rescues is in numbers far above our “normal” crisis levels. This is enough to make even the veteran rescue and/or shelter worker feel disheartened, heartbroken, defeated, and guilty. We work so hard to save lives and educate and lead the public in the hopes one day they will feel the way we do about animals in our community. A lot of people in our community care a great deal, but we have a long way to go due to a certain community section who are resistant to education and generally are apathetic at best and cruel at worst.

At Fresno Bully Rescue, we commit to each dog for their entire lives. We not only take our dogs back into our care, it’s mandated in our legal adoption contract. Dogs are returned to Fresno Bully Rescue for various reasons, some understandable and some not, but each one is difficult to handle. A dog you adopt and trust to a family in good faith only to find later that wasn’t their forever family can cause guilt, shame, and anger. It also causes heartbreak due to the loss you feel for the dog. We ask that those with like minds advocate for shelter dogs and adoption.

On the other side of the coin are those dogs who are returned that you have missed greatly and receiving those kisses and those loving stares again make your heart mend just a little. One of those dogs is Marigold, our Dog of the Month for July. Marigold is a nine-year-old sweet girl who is looking for a couch to snooze on all day long. She is good with other respectful dogs and walks well on leash. She is house-trained, a nice smaller size, and easy to handle. If you think you could be her FOREVER home, please come meet sweet Marigold at our shelter! She would love to get out of this heat! You can find Marigold’s album through the link in our bio.
